Grounding Squawk
Definition
A squawk severe enough to render an aircraft unairworthy. The aircraft cannot be dispatched for flight until a mechanic resolves the issue and returns it to service.
Why It Matters
Any pilot can file a grounding squawk, but only a mechanic or admin can clear one. When a grounding squawk is filed, the scheduling system should immediately block all future bookings for that aircraft until it's resolved.
