Overhaul

Definition

A comprehensive disassembly, inspection, repair, and reassembly of an engine or propeller to manufacturer specifications. Resets the component to zero time or service limits.

Why It Matters

Engine overhauls cost $20,000-40,000+ for common training engines. As an engine approaches TBO, the school must plan for the aircraft to be out of service for 4-8 weeks. This has major scheduling and revenue implications.
