Booking
Definition
A scheduled reservation for an aircraft, optionally with an instructor. Bookings have a type (dual, solo, rental, maintenance, ground), a time slot, and assigned resources.
Why It Matters
Booking validation must check aircraft availability, instructor availability, pilot checkout status, aircraft airworthiness, and maintenance due dates. Double-booking prevention at the database level (using exclusion constraints) is more reliable than application-level checks.
