Checkride

Definition

A practical test conducted by an FAA Designated Pilot Examiner (DPE) for the issuance of a pilot certificate or rating. Consists of an oral exam and a flight test.

Why It Matters

Scheduling a checkride often requires booking an aircraft for an extended block (3-5 hours) with a specific DPE. The aircraft must be airworthy and IFR-current if it's an instrument checkride.
