Dry Rate
Definition
An aircraft rental rate that does not include fuel. The renter pays for fuel separately, either by reimbursing the school or fueling the aircraft directly.
Why It Matters
Dry rates are less common in primary training but used for some club aircraft and longer cross-country rentals. Billing is more complex because fuel costs must be tracked and charged separately.
