VOR Check
Definition
A check of VOR receiver accuracy required by FAR 91.171 every 30 days for IFR flight. Can be done on a VOT, designated ground checkpoint, designated airborne checkpoint, or dual VOR check.
Why It Matters
VOR checks are unique among AVIATES items because pilots can do them without a mechanic. The 30-day interval is the shortest in AVIATES, making it easy to lapse if not tracked systematically.
